MIAMI, FL – The 2025 Ford Mustang GTD earned “Star of the Show” honors from the Southern Automotive Media Association (SAMA) during Press Day activities of the Miami International Auto Show on Friday, August 30.

The Ford Mustang GTD is the motorsports-inspired (but street-legal) limited-edition sports car directly inspired by the Mustang GT3 race car that competes in endurance races such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

SAMA judges also singled out three other outstanding vehicles for honors. In a sign of the automotive world’s march toward electrification, all three happen to be zero-emissions and fully electric.

The 2024 Lucid Air was selected as “Sedan of the Show”, the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona was named “Coupe of the Show”, and the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV captured the “Pickup Truck of the Show”.

The Lucid Air is the longest-range and most efficient electric vehicle on the market. The Dodge Charger Daytona returns to its 2-door coupe roots, styling cues and Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust combined with zero emissions driving. The Chevrolet Silverado EV electrifies the brand’s best-selling pickup truck while adding a folding Midgate that can provide over nine feet of load floor plus one of the industry’s largest “frunks” (front trunks).

SAMA traditionally has recognized the Miami Auto Show’s outstanding vehicles every year since the organization’s inception in 2007 with the exceptions of 2017 (Hurricane Irma) and 2020 (COVID) when the show had to be cancelled.
